Dorcas Aid Romania is an organization affiliated to the international organization Dorcas, having its own Romanian legal registration with a history of over 35 years in the service of the disadvantaged. Dorcas was founded by entrepreneur Dirk-Jan Groot in 1980.

Dorcas Aid Romania came into being as a result of individual letters sent by churches asking for material aid during the communist regime, and in 1990 it was legally established and in 1993 it became an association.
